VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

Definition - What does VMware Certified Professional (VCP) mean?

VMWare is one of the leading providers of virtualization software and they are offering their own certification to IT professionals who have real-world experience and technical knowhow to manage, deploy, install and support VMware's solutions and products. For data center virtualization, you would need to be a VMWare Certified Professional in order to differentiate your experience and skills from other professionals.

Right now, you need to be a VMWare Certified Professional on vSphere 5, which would certify your skills on the lateste vSphere.

There are two different ways to obtaining a VCP5 certification:

1. You are currently a VMWare, VCP2 or VCP3. You need to take one of the following courses:
  • VMWre vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage
  • VMWre vSphere: Fast Track
  • VMWre vSphere: Optimize & Scale
After taking one of these courses, you can take the VCP5 exam.

2. You are currently a VCP4 or if you have no VCP certification but have finished one of the VCP4 qualifying courses such as:
  • VMWre vSphere: Automation Fast Track
  • VMWre vSphere: Advanced Fast Track
  • VMWre vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage
  • VMWre vSphere: Troubleshooting
